What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a targeted treatment technique that uses a small monofilament needle to release muscle tension, reduce nerve-related pain, and improve tissue mobility. It can be performed as a standalone intervention or combined with electrical muscle stimulation (E-stim) and other manual therapy techniques for enhanced results.
Unlike acupuncture, which is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles. It focuses specifically on treating musculoskeletal dysfunctions, including trigger points, nerve roots, and localized pain in muscles and connective tissues.
